We will talk about two conjectures made by de Boor in the middle 70s: the ``(m-1972) times ten dollar bills'' conjecture on a mesh-independent bound for the max-norm of the least squares spline projector, and the less famous one (no dollar bills) on a mesh-independent bound for the condition number of the B-spline basis.
